Printmaking
I discovered printmaking three years ago at the School of Art during my PhD in Dunedin, New Zealand. I loved the creative break from my research work and started creating artworks inspired by each chapter of my thesis, combining my academic research with art.
I experiment with different printmaking techniques, from relief printing to intaglio. In New Zealand, I made dry points on old drinking cartons - it’s such a simple but expressive way to create prints out of a waste material. I also enjoy carving into wood and linoleum for layered, multi-colored relief prints.
Since a year, I’ve been exploring more traditional methods such as line etching and aquatint on zinc plates which I'm learning from Laura Casas Valle in the Netherlands. Each technique brings its own effects and surprises that makes me love printmaking so much.
